Pilates, Aerial Yoga, Reformer Pilates & Fitness Instructor
Pilates is an effective and fun all-body workout suitable for any skill level, age, size and background that can really transform people’s quality of life, increase strength, flexibility, mobility, posture and body awareness and improve mood and energy levels dramatically. Pilates skills and techniques are transferable to everyday tasks, and help participants lead a truly happier, healthier life. Pilates combines a mix of exercises and breathing techniques to strengthen your body, mobilise your joints, build a strong core and improve balance, focus and co-ordination.
Through breathing, centring, control, concentration, flow and precision, this class takes a full body approach – a regular Pilates practice can compliment a wide range of other training methods. A wide range of modifications and progressions is available for each exercise, so no matter which level you’re at, you can expect to improve your posture, muscle tone, core strength and joint mobility with every session. Working with body and mind throughout the class, Pilates makes you calmer, stronger, more focused and more flexible.
The Reformer is a piece of equipment which has a gliding platform or ‘carriage’ attached by springs to the body of the Reformer. It offers all the benefits of Pilates, including overall strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance, with the additional benefits of increased resistance and versatility for fast results. These things, in turn, lead to daily life improvements like better posture, graceful and efficient movement, and for many, relief from pain associated with physical imbalances such as back pain. A wide variety of exercises are done on the reformer to promote length, strength, flexibility, and balance. Most Pilates reformer exercises have to do with pushing or pulling the carriage or holding the carriage steady during an exercise as it is pulled on by the springs.
One of the best things about the reformer is its versatility. Exercises can be done lying down, sitting, standing, pulling the straps, pushing the footbar, perched on the footbar, perched on the shoulder blocks, with additional equipment, upside down, sideways, and all kinds of variations.

Mobility and flexibilty training is an important but often overlooked area of exercise, not just for professional athletes or dancers, but suitable and indeed essential for everyone’s physical health, regardless of age or fitness level. Classes focus on improving flexibility through a mixture of dynamic and static stretching as well as mobilising shoulders, backs and hips to increase range and ability of movement and improve the workings of all major joints in the body. This will also help with overall stress and tension reduction. No prior experience needed.
Functional training is exercise which involves training the body for the activities performed in daily life.
Functional training aims to improve an individual’s ability to perform day-to-day activities and movements with efficiency, effectiveness, and safety. It focuses on exercises that mimic real-life tasks and movements, rather than isolating specific muscle groups.
Exercises are task-oriented (eg lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending and rotating), multi-planar (across all three planes of motion), employing a variation of resistance training and core engagement methods (ie with bodyweight, resistance bands or free weights) to challenge the muscles in a more natural and dynamic way and to stabilise and generate power.
All functional training programmes are tailored to each individual’s specific needs, abilities, goals and circumstances, making it an ideal exercise format for anyone, regardless of age, background, training experience or injury history.
I offer private sessions, either one-to-one or for small groups in all of the practices I teach. Tailored to your personal, individual needs, background, fitness level, injury history and schedule. Mindfulness coaching uses a range of techniques including body awareness practices, mindful movement, breathing exercises and meditation (both seated, laying down and walking) to help cultivate a non-judgmental, accepting present-moment awareness.
The sessions guide participants to a more focused, objective, open and compassionate approach towards themselves, others, their living situation and surroundings by being aware of their body, mind and feelings in the current moment, without judgement or attachment to the thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations experienced at any point during the practice.
Benefits of these nurturing, gentle classes include directly transferable skills to improve participants’ day-to-day lives by reducing stress and anxiety, improving emotional regulation, increasing self-awareness, acceptance and compassion, enhancing focus and concentration and building better relationships and communication with others.
